Tradition is Innovation will be held at Ordem dos Arquitectos in Lisbon

Tradition is Innovation will be held at Ordem dos Arquitectos in Lisbon, Portugal, from 11 February to 9 March 2012.

The exhibition Tradition is Innovation wishes to present a point of view about the present and future of portuguese architecture. Eight architecture offices present their creative process, critical thought and responsibility as architects regarding the contemporary society, in video-interview format.
Tradition is Innovation presents 15 projects, built in the last 5 years, by the architecture offices of João Ventura Trindade, Ricardo Carvalho and Joana Vilhena, Ricardo Bak Gordon, João Luís Carrilho da Graça, Manuel Aires Mateus, Inês Vieira da Silva and Miguel Vieira, Nuno Brandão Costa and Eduardo Souto de Moura, which reflect a particular political, economical and territorial context.
With an experimental exhibition structure – video-interview – this exhibition wishes to question “What is an architecture exhibition?”.
Parallel to the exhibition, the participants will give two lectures entitled a paisagem é um ponto de vista, at the Ordem dos Arquitectos auditorium in Lisbon, on 11th of February and 3rd of March, both at 6pm. The opening reception will be held after the lecture on the 11th of February.
Tradition is Innovation was presented in Japan as a parallel event of the 24th World Congress of Architecture UIA Tokyo 2011, and in Brazil as the official portuguese exhibition in the 9th Architecture Biennial of São Paulo.
